Shires of Vermont Marathon

Welcome to the 2012 Shires of Vermont Marathon, a scenic point-to point USATF-certified course connecting the Shire Towns of Bennington and Manchester on May 20, 2012 - the only full marathon held in southern Vermont.

Special Notice: Race officials have been informed that a rare tourist train will be traveling south between Manchester and Bennington on the day of the marathon. An estimated 5 percent, or 1 of every 20 runners, may experience delays of up to 60 seconds at one of five different crossings, with runners pacing between 7:30 and 10 minutes most likely to be affected. Course Marshals at each crossing will record the delay times for each runner who is impacted and finish times will later be adjusted.
